Visit Us in Brighton
Adaptatrap has been part of Brighton's musical life since 1994. The shop has a new name now: Siesta Crafts Brighton, incorporating Adaptatrap, but it's the same love of handmade instruments from every corner of the world.
From Adaptatrap to Siesta Crafts Brighton
For three decades, Adaptatrap was Brighton's home of world music, the place to find koras, djembes, drums, singing bowls, kalimbas and instruments you simply couldn't get anywhere else. The founder, owner and chief kora-maker Les Sherwood decided in 2026 to retire and offered the opportunity to their long-time supplier Siesta Crafts to take on the shop.
Today, Adaptatrap lives on! Becoming part of the Siesta Crafts family (a family-run Fair Trade business established in 1983), the shop has evolved into Siesta Crafts Brighton, incorporating Adaptatrap — bringing the world-instrument range together with Siesta's wider collection of Fair Trade crafts under one roof.

World instruments, in person
You can still come in, pick something up and play it. The shop keeps a dedicated section of world and global instruments including djembes and hand drums, singing bowls and gongs, kalimbas, shakers, flutes and more. This means you can see, hold and hear them before you decide. Also, our signature koras are still made to order by Les in his workshop; ask in store, or commission one online.
The full range, online
A shop floor can only hold so much. Most of our instrument range now lives online, where there's far more than any single shop could stock. Online orders are picked, packed and dispatched from our Canterbury warehouse, with free UK delivery over £35 and worldwide shipping. So whether you visit us in Brighton or shop from your sofa, the whole collection is open to you.
